Beginning Computer Classes for People with Hearing Loss Many people with hearing loss find conventional computer classes virtually worthless, because standard teaching techniques require hearing. The "show and tell" teaching method requires the student to look at an object or picture while listening to descriptions or explanations about it. It just doesn't work for people who don't hear well. People with hearing loss need a computer class whose teaching methods are designed to accommodate them. Hearing Loss Network and Deaf Community Services are pleased to announce a series of Beginning Computer Classes for People with Hearing Loss that do just that. These classes are intended for hard of hearing, late-deafened, and oral deaf people with little or no computer experience. Teaching methods include lecture, discussion, and hands-on training. You will be using the computer in the very first class! Voice recognition and projected captioning ensure full access to class information! Topics
include: Workshops consist of four sessions of three hours each. They are held periodically in San Diego; other locations are possible if there is sufficient interest. Suggested donation is $10 per session. For additional information, including dates and location of the next workshop, please contact: Larry
